Seeing The Future With 2020 Vision

Who might run against president Donald Trump in 2020? Trump is a republican so he is not likely to be challenged for the presidency by his own party but John Kasich, former governor of Ohio is considered a potential republican primary challenger.

We’ve already told you a bit about the potential front runner, Bernie Sanders and shown you several of president Obama’s staff and friends that could run for president of the United States of America in 2020.

Even Beto O’Rourke, who we’ve mentioned before and who lost his senate race to Ted Cruz, is, for some reason, being encouraged to run for  president of the United States of America in 2020!

Now let’s look at just a few more members of the class of 2020!

Elizabeth Warren!

Elizabeth Warren is a senator representing Massachusetts  and she is very likely to run for president of the United States of America in 2020.

Many people like her policies but she is best known for her  consumer advocacy work.

She supports Bernie Sanders’ Medicare for All bill-this seems to be a  very important policy for some democrats.

CNN ranks her at #1 in their 2020 rankings for candidate for president of the United States of America, and New York Magazine says Warren is already dominating the race for 2020!

But the Boston Globe newspaper says don’t run, Senator Warren, don’t run!

Now Elizabeth has proposed the Accountable Capitalism Act.  In essence her ACA asks
“If corporations are considered to be legally equivalent to people, then shouldn’t they also have a legal obligation to consider the impacts of their choices on a broader set of stakeholders beyond their shareholders?”

Not so long ago, corporate leaders understood they had a stake in the country’s prosperity. Will Warren’s ACA return the USA to those bygone days?

Something else to consider-Rolling Stone magazine asks why do many democrats have second thoughts about running a female candidate like Elizabeth Warren in 2020?

Interesting question-will this effect Elizabeth Warren in 2020? Will this effect all women candidates?
Here at the Strangest Adventures we wonder can Elizabeth become  president of the United States of America in 2020?

Tulsi Gabbard!

Speaking of women presidential candidates, Samoan-American veteran Tulsi Gabbard is also running for  president of the United States of America in 2020.

She represents Hawaii in the house of representatives. We’ve mentioned her experience and her potential as a president of the United States before.

A reminder-Tulsi Gabbard is considered a progressive candidate-she quit working for the DNC in 2016 so she could endorse Bernie Sanders. In fact she also supports his Medicare for All act.

Some people are all ready for Tulsi Gabbard to become president of the United States in 2020.

She  has a few obstacles to overcome, especially her previous background as a very conservative republican seemingly obsessed with stopping gay marriage.

She has turned her back on those beliefs though and changed her stance to support same-sex marriage in 2012.
In fact Tulsi Gabbard began her 2020 presidential campaign by apologizing for past LGBTQ remarks.

New York representative  Sean Patrick Maloney,  the first openly gay member of Congress, came to the defense of Tulsi-is that and her apology enough?

Could Tulsi become president of the United States in 2020? Will she become president of the United States in 2020?

John Delaney ?

Yes John Delaney! John Delaney is the first democrat to declare he will be running for president of the United States of America in 2020.   He represents Maryland’s sixth district in the US house of representatives.  The 2020 presidential campaign of John Delaney, the U.S. Representative representing Maryland's 6th congressional district, was announced on July 28, 2017.

Most people missed this but John Delaney was the first prominent Democrat to announce a campaign for the 2020 U.S. presidential election.

John explains why he wants to run for president and you if you like civility and bipartisanship you might like Delaney.

John prefers universal healthcare over Medicare for All. He says all Americans should have healthcare as a right.

Will John Delaney become president of the United States of America in 2020?  Maybe not but he is the first declared candidate-we will discover if that gives him any edge towards victory.

Richard Ojeda!

Richard Ojeda,  a highly decorated 24 year veteran of the US army, previously served one term in West Virginia’s senate; he lost his election bid for the West Virginia’s 3rd congressional district in the 2018 midterm election.

After he lost he declared he was running for president of the United States of America in 2020, on November 12, 2018. That makes him the second democrat to declare his candidacy.

You can see Richard Ojeda’s platform here.

As for healthcare, Richard believes in a public option.” I think we should give people the ability to buy into Medicare”.

Richard rose to prominence after he aggressively supported a teacher strike in West Virginia.

Nearly a year later, in 2019, Ojeda got involved in another teacher’s strike, this time in Los Angeles California, and wrote in the Intercept about his thoughts on the subject of teacher’s strikes.

Ojeda has taken positions that were not popular in West Virginia, a state that overwhelmingly elected Donald Trump. For instance, he voted down an anti-abortion bill and he was instrumental in passing  the state’s medical marijuana law.

But Richard Ojeda has one huge problem-he voted for Donald Trump. Will being the only democrat to vote for Trump cause problems for his campaign? Can voters forgive that vote? Should they forgive that vote?

Richard Ojeda was the second democrat to declare his candidacy for president of the United States of America in 2020. Can his early start help him win?  No one knows the future, anything is possible but his presidency seems highly unlikely.

Vermin Supreme!

Vermin Supreme was born in Massachusetts and represents no one. Vermin is a performance artist known for “running for office” since 1987.

CNN calls Vermin Supreme the protester who would be president.

Vermin Supreme says He 'Paved The Way For Donald Trump'

All indications are he is a fake candidate that seems to be calling attention to the absurdities of politics and is also know for his distinctive headwear-a rubber boot.

One of Vermin’s most famous promises-a pony for all Americans.

Will this perennial candidate for president of the United States of America “run” in 2020? Probably. Will Vermin Supreme remind the USA that politics can be absurd? Probably.

Vermin Supreme seems interesting but here at the Strangest Adventures we are glad that he never won an election. The USA could do better.

Trump Meets Putin!

Come into my parlor said the spider to the fly

On Monday 16, 2018, president Trump meets with president Vladimir Putin of the Russian Federation. It appears obvious that Putin led a cyber attack against the USA that assisted in the election of Donald Trump to the presidency of the United States.

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein announced Friday that twelve Russian intelligence officials were indicted in special counsel Robert Mueller's probe into 2016 election hacking  ahead of the 2016 election.

Oddly enough, Putin is one of the few world leaders that Trump has refused to condemn. In fact Trump praises Putin.

It leads some to ask “what if Trump has been a Russian asset since 1987?” Amazing. if true.Read and decide for yourself.

Is this the end of NATO?

This weekend Trump met with world leaders at a NATO summit in Brussels, Belgium. It was a meeting dominated by Trump’s bluster and insults and included Trump saying that “Germany is totally controlled by Russia”.

It ended with Trump fabricating success.

Unusual baby Trump  balloon and unusual protestors

Next Trump went to England where he was lampooned by balloon and protested with great vigor.

Trump was interviewed by The Sun, a British newspaper, and in the interview he registers his displeasure with how PM Teresa May is conducting Brexit, among other issues. The next day Trump lied to May about the interview, which was recorded, calling it fake news.

Trump's choice for PM Boris Johnson

Trump is insulting to  ally nations and praises those nations the US is, at best, antagonistic  toward. We can not say for sure what will happen when Donnie meets Vlad but expect Trump to continue praising Putin. President Trump is certainly very predicable.

Don't forget about the pee pee tape

Russiagate!

Will Trump turn a blind eye towards Russia?

Was May 9th, 2017 a turning point in history? President Trump's  administration was under investigation for having had contact with Sergey Kislyak, who is considered a spy and a recruiter of spies by US intelligence officials. Attorney General Jefferson Beauregard Sessions, who was a surrogate of the Trump campaign, certainly met with Kislyak at least twice while Trump was still merely a presidential candidate; Sessions failed to disclose  the encounters during his confirmation hearings as Attorney General. There are others on the Trump campaign that also had contacts with Russia, including Mike Flynn, which is what the Russiagate investigations are looking into. On May 9th, 2017  Trump fired the head of the FBI, Mike Comey, who was heading up the FBI’s part of the investigation into the Trump presidential campaign. Mike Comey was in charge of the FBI’s part of the Russiagate investigation and Trump fired him. By the way Comey found out he was fired, not by a phone call or in person, but on TV as though he was a contestant on a TV show! Trump firing Comey is similar in some ways to  the Saturday Night Massacre in 1973, when  Nixon ordered the firing of Archibald Cox, who was a special prosecutor looking into the Watergate burglary and subsequent cover up that led to the Watergate scandal. The similarities of the two firings are undeniable!

Or will President Trump stand resolute against Putin and other world leaders?

On CNN Legal Analyst Jeffrey Toobin called the move a "grotesque abuse of power”. Dan Rather said, of the Comey firing: "What We Have Here Is Clearly A Cover-Up”. Rather might have some experience in these matters as he was a reporter during the original Watergate scandal. These are just two examples of the press reaction to Trump firing Comey.

Is the future flag of the Russo-American empire?

Then, the next day, May 10th, 2017, Trump himself actually met with Kislyak in the White House. Trump also met with the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. Oddly enough the only news outlet that was allowed to cover and photograph this event was TASS, the official Russian news agency! If anyone doubted that Trump had any bias towards Russia, their doubts were demolished by the circumstances and timing of this event. Very Nixonian! In case no one understood that, Trump met with Nixon's Secretary of State Henry Kissinger later in the White House that same day!

Trump is rarely ever seen smiling but he is certainly smiling at Kislyak!

Where it will all go from here? Will another Watergate type prosecutor emerge?  Or will this FBI enquiry find the truth with new FBI Director Andrew McCabe?  WARNING! This is what true pundit thinks of McCabe. What about subpoenas that have been served?   Will we ever know the truth? The Strangest Adventures begin now!

Kissinger and President Trump in the White House, it smells like 1973 in here!

Resist!

Since the election of Donald J. Trump as president of the United States many Americans have taken to protesting his policies in different ways. What policies have they protested against so far and what will they protest against in the future? The answers may not be easy during these Strange Adventures but let’s examine just a few protests which focus on delivering a message to President Trump in Washington DC!

January 12, 2017: The Women’s March on Washington

Many Women, actually, many human beings,  believed that Mr. Trump expressed misogynistic viewpoints during his campaign for president and were concerned this could influence Trump’s actions as president.  This resulted in a massive March in Washington DC! Certainly the Trump administration is hostile to many issues that women, indeed, many people, care about deeply. The designer of the Obama hope poster, Shepard Fairey, even helped promote the event by printing full page advertisements of the posters he created for the occasion, to be used as impromptu  protest posters! The Women’s March on Washington had up to one million protestors; there was much networking and political organizing and many consider it a success!

March 9-13, 2017: Dakota Access Pipeline Protest

Many people, especially The Standing Rock Sioux tribe, are trying to stop the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL)  in North Dakota, which has a chance of destroying local waterways. They are also concerned that some wildlife and some sacred sites could be damaged by the DAPL. Bill Moyers provides more information. The protesting has taken on an  urgent air after President Donald Trump signed an executive order reviving plans for the DAPL. The Episcopal Church and the Unitarian Universalists are just two of the groups that support the struggle of the Standing Rock Sioux tribe, and there are other groups, including many veterans! We wish them success against possibly over whelming odds. Trump seems as though he would not understand or even listen to the protests!

April 22, 2017: March for Science

The March for Science is on Earth Day this year! Scientists will march to preserve funding for, and to increase interest and belief in, science! Many scientists believe the Trump administration is anti-science and anti-funding science. Many Trump appointees and even Donald Trump himself seem dubious about established scientific theories. Scientists and anyone that cares about science and ecology are being treated like enemies by Trump. But NOVA asks, is this crossing a line for scientists? We always wish success for science!

September 16, 2017-Juggalo March

Yes, fans of the musical group, Insane Clown Posse, known as Jugglealos, vowed they would march on Washington D.C. to protest the FBI declaring them to be a criminal gang! The fans follow their favorite band around the country, similar to how Deadheads used to follow the Grateful Dead around the country, though the music is much different and their culture is very unique and complicated. They also have a contentious relationship with Donald Trump! If they march it could be the Strangest Adventure Washington DC has ever seen!

There are of course, other issues  that many Americans disagree with Trump about.
More protests and events in the Washington DC area in 2017 via The Peace Center. All protestors are welcome to Washington DC. Perhaps that is the only way some people think they are being heard now.

Donald Trump Versus Bernie Sanders!

Note: Trump hands not to scale!

When Bernie Sanders first appeared on The Strangest Adventures he was just another Democratic presidential candidate; a lot has changed since then. Senator Sanders went from one of five democratic presidential candidates to one of two. As it turns out many voters, young people in particular, have responded to his populist platform like affordable college, expanding social security, raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour, ending the militarization of the police and many other ideas with increasing appeal, particularly with the young folks and far left, no surprise that Sanders calls himself a Democratic Socialist. He’s giving Hillary Clinton some unexpected competition; they are tied in polls for California. That’s mighty good for a candidate that was predicted to have dropped out by now!

And everyone knows presidential nominee Donald J. Trump, orange faced delusional narcissist billionaire xenophobic real estate developer. He is accused of ignoring reality but it isn't so much that Trump doesn't know the facts; he can’t possibly be as ignorant as he appears to be. He's just that he’s brutish and he simply doesn't care about the facts. For example he told voters in Fresno California on May 21st that he could fix their water shortage, declaring that: “There is no drought!” But without a doubt the drought exists in California. The state had one of its driest years ever in 2015. The unprecedented drought covers nearly 95 percent of the state, and in the past several years they’ve had wildfires, water rationing, and snowless mountaintops. The reality is apparent but Donald ignores the facts and bullies onward and upward.

Stained glass window Donald Trump donated to Marble Collegiate Church where he is not an "active member." The camel is leaping with ease through the eye of a needle. It depicts Mark XX 25” It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.” Window features Trump’s motto Dives Vincet.

Many people have wondered what would happen if Bernie Sanders debated Donald J. Trump; which one would win?  The Comedy Central show @Midnight presented a fictional comedic debate with James Adomian as Bernie Sanders and Anthony Atamanuik as Donald Trump.  As it turns out these two comedians have been touring the country performing this live.

Which leads to the time Trump was recently on the Jimmy Kimmel Show. The conversation eventually led to the idea of Trump debating Sanders. See Hillary Clinton had rejected the offer of a debate with Sanders on Fox News before the California election.  Kimmel asked Donald if he would debate Sanders who was Kimmel’s guest the next evening. Trump’s first comment was “how much is he going to pay me?” Eventually Bernie answered in a tweet “game on!” But we never got this dream team debate in real life. Look here to read the details.

One size fits most pinheads and primates too!

But today Senator Bernie Sanders faces a different foe, Hillary Clinton. Primaries occur today in California, Iowa, Montana, New Jersey, New Mexico, and South Dakota and a caucus in North Dakota. This is the last of the major voting and according to the numbers Clinton has all but wrapped up the nomination but Bernie vows to continue on no matter what happens. The likely scenario is he’ll lose but the Senator was not expected to last this long. That he did is a testimony to his message and indicates many voters are dissatisfied with the current system. Perhaps Sanders planted seeds which may blossom some day; only the future knows for sure!
